A Croisiére on Louis Majesty

Old muscles and limbs living a hectic life cries out for rest and new air to breath. Hence the hearts incessant desire for sun, sand and sea is realized in a restful holiday away from the cold every day environment.

This time it was to be a Croisiére of four nights aboard a large tour boat Louis Majesty which we boarded on the 20 June,2011 at the Port of Piraeus in Greece after having spent a day in Palace Hotel in Athens - in a bit of a neglected surrounding.

However the following day we were driven to Port Piraeus and was comfortably settled aboard a luxury ship appropriately called the « Louis Majesty » by 10.30 in the morning. The ship was equal to five star hotel, with clean comfortable rooms.  The ship has a capacity of 1800 passengers with 732 rooms .  There are all facilities for entertainment and relaxed stay aboard.  There are casinos, a Gym and even a area for Thalasso therapy.  There are large conference halls and a “noisy”disco

There were sumptuous dinning halls, one a Restaurant where the passengers could select from a wide range of delicious food, sweets and fruit selected from a menu.

It was in the latter that we had the pleasure of meeting a very friendly couple from Quebec, Canada Mr Yves and Mrs Micheline Masson.

It was in the course of the conversation we learnt that Mrs. Micheline Masson is the well known Canadian writer Micheline Duff, the Author of the Trilogy D'un Silence à l'Autre, Mon Cri pour Toi and more. We had a long and interesting conversation with both of them.

The following day we met another couple from Quebec, who were also very friendly. We did not pry into their private life more interested in the conversation and hence we could not even get their names except that he was a Dental Surgeon from Quebec, strangely though they did not know Micheline Duff, the writer.

After the meals we would stroll around th e dif ferent decks simply looking around the shops, ha ve a drink at a bar, or mount the decks to sip a coffee while reading a book seated in comfortable chairs and listen to live music.

If otherwise interested walkup the stairs to the eleventh deck which is open to allow sunto shine on those who are still enjoying the swimming pool, and stand beside the rails watching the waves softly beat on the side of the ship now sailing towards the Island of Mykonos or if you wish enjoy the comfort of stretching on a deck-chair for a sunbath.

Mykonos
Louis Majesty arrived at the port of Mykonos at 6 pm. We disembarked to have a look around the beautiful Greek Village with typical Greek houses painted white perched on the hillock overlooking the blue seas. The village is clean with even the stony pathways painted white. We did not venture far into Mykonos but walked around the picturesque little seaport.

According to Greek mythology Hercule in one of his 12 tasks fought with the giants, and having killed them threw them into the sea where they petrified to form the Island of Mykonos. It is primarily a touristic village. The restaurants called the Taverns placed around the port have meals to satisfy all tastes. How ever we we satisfied feeding our eyes with the beauty of Mykonos and returned to Louis Majesty for lunch.

Kusadasi-Turkey

The deep sapphire blue sea seemed full of spirit. The rapidly rising and falling waves joyfully slapped the stern of Louis Majesty with vigour. The calm wind softened the aggressive heat of the Turkish sun. We see a statue on the hill facing us . Perhaps a statue of Ataturk. Below it are modern buildings stretching right on to the sea.

To our right is a small island with a short wall around it. It is the Island of Quvercin Ada (Island of Pigions) It once contained a 19th century byzantine Castle. The wall around is more recent .

We see all that from the upper deck of Louis Majesty.

Patmos Island
Louis Majesty sailed into the port of the Patmos Island at 4 in the afternoon on 21 June,2011.

Patmos Island is a religiou s place where St John is said to have written the Apocalypse-the Book of R evelation.

The Island is therefore a place of religious worship to Catholics and the Orthodox. It is a mountainous Island on the top of which is th e Monastery of St. John above the village of Chora. Below is the cave where S t. John is said to have had his vision. He died there and is said to have been buried in the place. The small Island is hilly with beautiful sandy as well as pebbled beaches
